My Musical Style
As a singer-songwriter I would say that my style is primarily derived from the jangle-pop, indie and britpop genres, specifically artists such as The Sundays, Her’s, The Cleaners from Venus, Blur, Radiohead, and The Smiths. I have also been influenced by the fingerpicking style of folk and classic country music, with musicians such as Simon and Garfunkel, Labi Siffre, Joni Mitchell, and Hank Williams playing a big role in the development of my acoustic style.

As a composer, I enjoy composing within a variety of genres, such as musical theatre, choral, and TV and film. I composed and orchestrated a musical for my university dissertation and am currently working on a new musical in my spare time; I am a very avid lyricist and enjoy composing orchestral instrumentation too.Â

I also enjoy experimenting with electronica and drum and bass, though this is currently an early venture…

Composition
My portfolio comprises writing contemporary original music, a period as composer-in-residence for a local choral group and I am currently working on my first original musical composition and an EP due for release in the coming months.

About me
Hello! I’m Emilie, and I’m a 22 year-old musician from south-east England. I have always been incredibly passionate about music in every sense; I started learning the piano when I was around seven, and have been playing guitar for almost ten years now (I am classically trained in piano though guitar and vocals were predominantly self-taught). I started to write my own music when I was around ten years old and have been consistently songwriting and composing since that point. In recent years I have started writing for musical theatre which I absolutely love doing, as I was previously part of a theatrical group for almost a decade. Outside of music I love being outdoors (hiking, climbing, and the like) and I also have a rather intensive houseplant hobby…
